Intimacy with God
Intimacy with God
The last couple of weeks have been interesting. We have been highly encouraged to social distance and remain home as much as possible in light of the spreading virus, Covid-19. Many people have lost income or are fearful of their financial future. Many are very worried about their own health and especially the health of their loved ones. Most have had to make adjustments in their everyday life to get used to this “new normal.”
When times of uncertainty and crisis hit it is hard to know what to think let alone what to do with ourselves. The question on my mind lately is, “What do I need to do so that me and my family go through this well, and come out of it well? ”Psalm 91:1 says,
The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1
To dwell in something means to make it your place of residence. To reside there permanently by choice. To be in the shadow of something we must be close in proximity to it, and periodically reposition ourselves to remain in that shadow as the sun moves.
In Psalm 27 David describes his enemies coming and desiring to destroy him, and his one desire through the fear and the turmoil in his mind is described this way in Psalm 27:4 “I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple.”
I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple.
Psalm 27:4
Through all of the current happenings in our world this is what I want God to mold in me. I want to learn to dwell in the presence of God. To remain calm and confident in the protection of an almighty loving God.
How will you dwell in his presence during this time, may be the most important question that we can ask.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Rest in his presence Church.
