Take Heart - A Worship Song That Came to Mind

This past Sunday when discussing the story of Christ walking on water (Matthew 14:22-36), the song Take Heart came to mind for Keeva and she shared some of the lyrics with us. We had been discussing Jesus sending the disciples out on the boat while He went to be with the Father on the mountain. It needs to be pointed out that Jesus sent them into the storm, knowing this would be tough and would test them. After spending time on the mountain Jesus goes to rejoin them by walking out on the water where they were struggling against the wind and waves. In fear they cry out thinking He’s a ghost, but Jesus’ response was “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

What we see in Scripture and no doubt have experienced in our lives, is God often doesn’t take away the storms we face, but gives us what we need to endure them. We can be assured that while we face the wind and waves, that He not only empowers us, but is there with us, and even when we doubt like Peter when he stepped out of the boat, we can turn to Christ and He will catch us.

This also reminds me of some Scripture I’ve been meditating on that points to hope and joy being the fruit of suffering as God fills us with the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:3-5

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

So take heart, He has overcome the world and its troubles, and through faith He walks with us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. In that we have hope and not fear.

Take Heart (MMXX) - Hillsong Worship

VERSE 1:
There is a light
It burns brighter than the sun
He steals the night
And casts no shadow
There is hope
Should oceans rise and mountains fall
He never fails

CHORUS:
So take heart
Let His love lead us through the night
Hold on to hope
And take courage again

VERSE 2:
In death by love
The fallen world was overcome
He wears the scars of our freedom
In His Name
All our fears are swept away
He never fails

TAG:
All the world and its troubles
Take heart for He has overcome
All the world and its troubles
Take heart for God has overcome
All the world and its troubles
Take heart for He has overcome
All the world and its troubles
Take heart our God has overcome

BRIDGE:
All our troubles and all our tears
God our hope He has overcome
All our failure and all our fear
God our love He has overcome
All our heartache and all our pain
God our healer He has overcome
All our burdens and all our shame
God our freedom He has overcome

God our justice God our grace
God our freedom He has overcome
God our refuge God our strength
God is with us He has overcome
